Marvell SATA controller problem

I have an MSI P67 GD65 b3 and have never used the marvell controller for SATA drives.

I have a few drives I wanted to use in a raid 5 config on the intel controller so was going to move my boot drive onto the marvell controller and leave it in ide mode just to make things easier as the raid will be for file storage.

So I tried this and have disconnected everything except my boot drive , have tried both ports that are supposed to be the marvell controller and nothing boots.

I even tried enabling raid mode and don't see the splash at boot for the raid bios.

Am sort of scratching my head here as these 2 sata ports seem dead to the world cant get them to detect anything even a DVD-ROM.

Anyone had similar issues with the board?

GD65 has got strange BIOS, I've got the same mobo. See there if Marvell controller is enabled, and make sure you connect correct ports as manual was really confusing AFAIR.

Quick update seems neither controller will do raid mode as I can't access the bios setup of either of them.

Have enabled one or the other or both of them in the motherboard bios in countless configurtions , reflashed the bios and tried everything I can think of but can't get a result.

So a simple breakdown of the problem

Marvell controller doesnt see any drives in ide mode either DVD-ROM or HDD
MArvell controller doesnt allow access to its bios during post just doesnt appear and the ctrl + m doesnt work.
The intel sata ports work fine in IDE mode but once set to raid will not allow me to access the raid bios to set up the raid array no splash at boot and ctrl + i doesn't work.

So any helpful suggestions welcome as its one of the stragest ones I have seen.

Ok have flashed the bios on to 4.3 and the intel controller came to life in RAID mode.

So now have 1 x DVD and 1 x HDD connected to it non-raid and 4 x HDD in RAID 5.

No joy from the Marvell controller though it seems to have its drivers installed in windows but doesn't recognise anything you connect to it in IDE or raid mode so am still puzzled by it.

My P67A-GD65(B3) boot this way:
(make sure you enabled Marvell which might be confused; right option is: Advanced->Integrated Peripherals-> and confusing moment is depending on BIOS revision it is named "Marvell SATA Configuration" or "External SATA 6.0 Gbps controller", and put it after one reset into appropriate mode - reset is important):

(to see that screen you may need to press alternatively Pause button and any other key, because boot process is sometimes quicker than LCD shows screen)

.. so CTRL+M gives another screen:

If you still have no such screens, controller ios faulty, motherboard may go to RMA :)
