Apart from Fisk and Punisher, most of S2 was pretty poor, shame as I loved the first season.

Haven't watched Defenders yet, should I? Haven't watched Iron Fist or Luke Cage S2 but there's more chance of me growing wings than watching either after first season of LC.

It was but still really required viewing before a new season of DD considering it's plot.

Yes one would assume you will need to watch Defenders.

Defenders was so poor I can barely remember anything about it.

The only good thing about Defenders was Daredevil, so I'm very much looking forward to more Daredevil. The rest lost me long ago.

Empire gave the first 6 episodes 4/5 and said it's more like season 1.

Also mentioned an 11 minute '1-take' sequence!

Watched the first 4 episodes so far and damn why can't the other Marvel shows keep on par with Daredevil, the 15 minute prison long take in episode 4 was amazing to watch.

    That prison scene, fantastic.

I'm disappointed that luck cage and iron fist have been cancelled but watch the first 4 eps of season 3 just reminds me that daredevil is in a different league entirely.

If you haven't yet, you don't need to watch The Defenders. It would be useful, as it helps with Matt's motivations going in to S3. But all you really need to know is that at the end of The Defenders:

Matt and Elektra are missing, presumed dead, after a building collapsed around them.

DD S3 picks up from there.

This season didn't really do it for me, there was just far too much that happened that made absolutely no logical sense. Some good episodes and performances, and still the best of the MU series, just some really stupid plot points let it down. Some of the things I had problems with:
Fisk goes into witness protection, so lets tell the world where he is and house him in a public building where people go in and out every day. The only reason that was there was so Karen could find a link back to Fisk. The prison scene, guards are trying to kill him, then some decide to, duing a lockdown, let him out unescorted through an unlocked gate to go where he pleases for no other reason than he is wearing a suit? Fisk sees Poindexter shoot people so decides he is obviously an expert martial artist and can play daredevil. And don't get me started on the throwing. There's more but it would take too long to go through them all.
