So I have to ask... Anyone going to see this?

Other half has booked tickets for a 2.30pm showing tomorrow. Always enjoyed the original growing up, so I hope they haven't completely wrecked this.

I’ve never seen the original on the big screen so for me there is no bar for this to hit, with that pressure off I enjoyed it, it’s lovely but I don’t love it. One main gripe with me is the actor who plays the dad comes across like a weasel, I really dislike him from the first scene. Blunt is really good though and the songs are ok, I guess they will hit harder the 2nd time.

I think the original is great. This new film has lot to live up to. Going by the trailer and reviews, I'm glad they didn't screw it up.

While on the subject of Mary Poppins; I also liked Saving Mr Banks, which tells the story of Walt Disney's quest to bring Mary Poppins to the silver screen. For those who haven't seen it; worth checking out if you like the original Mary Poppins film.

Is that the one with the car?

No, that's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Both have Dick Van Dyke in though..

The dad in the original was played very unlikeable too, but in a strict edwardian way.
I've got mates begging me to go see this that have never seen the original. They have no idea what they are in for :p

I remember seeing the original in the cinema several years after it came out!

Going to take daughter to see this one.
