Hi people,

I'm dying to play Mass Effect 2 but do I need to play the first one before it?
I don't have lots of time to play games at the minute so playing the first one in order to play the 2nd one puts me off a bit!

Thanks

John

Depends on the platform I guess. If on PS3 you'll get an interactive comic that explains what happened in the first one. If Xbox then maybe you'll have to play through it.

Both are worth playing, plus you have choices in ME1 that carry over into ME2. And I think if you just play ME2 then the choices are randomly chosen

Right you've twisted my arm I'll get both! The local videogame store near me is selling both second hand for £13 so I'll pick them up later!

Mass Effect is a good game but do you *need* to play it before ME2? Not really.
The effects your choices from the first game have boil down to which face an NPC will have in a few cutscenes and whether you start with a few extra levels, resources and renegade/paragon points.
But if you're prepared to spend 20 hours or more playing ME1 before ME2 then by all means go for it as you'll probably enjoy it.

I'm sure there is a video for the story line from ME1 which is probably enough to get you going with the storyline if you don't have the time.
