Mass Effect 4 to use Frostbite 2

Remember hearing it's not going to be based on Shepard.

More interested in what they're making of the story tbh.

lol @ Fenris comment :-D

A prequel perhaps... of the Protheans' fight ?

I actually started playing ME1 again this evening... couldn't help it after listening to the ME2 music at work :-D

Regardless of authenticity, I absolutely find it hard to enjoy most prequels because you know what the end story is. Not always of course, enterprise was okay, blood and chrome is bordering the line, (yes they're not games) and the ME3 DLC take part during the actual game you've just completed, DOH.

That's not what bioware's blog says.

Bio's blog doesn't say a great deal, but one thing it doesn't say is there's going to be an ME4, all it says, is there starting work on a new ME game, which is going to be set when ever, & involve what ever, it doesn't even have a name yet, tho some folks call it ME:U, & some call it ME:TNG.

There is really not much I can tell you about the game right now, except that it will be built with the amazing technology of Frostbite as its foundation, enhanced by many of the systems that the Dragon Age III team has already spent a lot of time building.

The other thing I can tell you is that, while it will be very respectful of the heritage built over the course of the first three games, with the original trilogy now concluded and the switch over to a new engine, we are exploring new directions, both on the gameplay and story fronts. You can still expect the pillars the franchise is known for to be fully intact though, including diverse alien races, a huge galaxy to explore, and of course rich, cinematic storytelling.

I spent so much money on the ME franchise, whether it be buying games, books, comics and other things.

I was and still am truly disappointed with ME3.
With that said though, I love the history of the ME universe. I will be buying this game and any DLC. Unfortunately the money will go to EA, even though they ruined the ME trilogy for me.

I don't mind trying it and I also have no problem with taking it to a new game either extending, prequeling, sequelling or whatever.

Ultimately the Mass Effect universe was great, there isn't instantly a need for a new universe/hook to make every game with, a great story in the same universe is better than a crap story in a new universe where every alien is new and every planet different.

ultimately "new" is just, rehashed slightly differently when it comes to universes to base a game in. A well told story is a well told story, a poor one, is bad.

The biggest problem is Bioware completely forgot how to tell a good story, somewhere between ME1 and ME2 the company deteriorated significantly, somewhere between ME2 and DA2/ME3 the company completely fell apart. ME2 wasn't a patch on ME1, ultimately because it was the same game without really the story, the feel, the time line, the journey/pacing. The story was, start, go each way for a small sub story, where they all basically mean nothing, have no impact on each other, are small, encapsulated and mostly dull, then right at the end all get together for one "real" story, which wasn't as good as it should have been.

ME1 is, a story and you pick people up along the way, ME2 is you pick people up.... that was the story, the end(almost). ME3 was story wise, mostly a joke, weapons, upgrades/RPG feel to the game non existant by that point. ME1 was a great RPG, you felt like the character improved, there was a level of difficulty, the game scaled well and, the locations felt massive, epic, imposing and highly atmospheric, even the planet expedition though irritating everywhere felt huge and open, like you know, SPACE. ME2, RPG, gone, difficulty, gone, story, gone, size/imposing feel/epicness of locations.... utterly destroyed, scaling of enemies, nope, new fun weapons and armour start to finish... nope, stupid preorder bonus armours and weapons that to a degree, break the game and ruin any/all upgrades, yup. DA:O was much the same, epic feel, big world, difficult, story, everything the same, DA2 was just laughably horrendous in all the same ways that ME2 was. So basically I have zero faith Bioware can produce another ME1/DA:O quality game.

They never said they were stopping at three, the trilogy was always Shepard's story, they'll start with a new character now. There's a lot they can do with the game world they've created, and there's a lot of games to come out of it yet.

They could take it back or forward a few hundred/thousand years, they've got a fair amount of options.

I'd like a non human main character, a turian would be good.

I picked ME3 up for £7-50 a week ago to tide me over until Ass Creed etc release. I wasn't expecting much..
Gotta say, I'm loving it! Good graphics, great story and some genuinely funny bits.
Frostbite should be even better.
