Mass Effect (Idiot alert)

Hi, I'm after a bit of help and it's quite embarrassing:

Once you have left the citadel for the first time and have landed on another planet, how do you leave the ship? I've looked through some walkthroughs and it mentions the mako, but I don't seem to have one of those in the hangar/whatever.

Any help greatly appreciated.

If the side door is stuck closed, buy the game you norty pirate!

(Old crack had an issue where the side-door of the ship wouldn't open)

It should be an original disc, but the airlock door won't open unless I go back to the citadel

Ignore me anyway, thought this was the PC gaming section, saw airlock door and automatically assumed bad crack.

Have you got the missions you require to go to these planets or are you just randomly jetting around?

Well at least I've stopped panicking now

I've tried visiting each planet that I have a mission for, I swear I'm being dumb. Unfortunately I'm at work until ten so can't even describe exactly what I'm doing.

When you go to each system there's always about 4-6 planets but in each one there's only one planet you can actually land on. When you can land the green button will light up saying "land".... a cutscene will then play and you'll be dropped to the surface in the Mako.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I was doing, I would select a planet to travel to thinking I'd automatically land on it, whne it only took me to that system. I've been killing geth and krogan all morning

I cant view the galaxy map.

i found that if i walk back from joker and stop at hte railing where the galaxy map is, the option would pop up sometimes but i couldnt view it. you have to walk either to the left or right to them doors but dont go in them, turn towards the middle of the ship and theres like a balcony that takes you up to the galaxy map so you can access it
