Really pumped when I saw this was on sale at a good price in the Steam sale, as seemingly avoids all the baggage running the older editions has (ME1 no 4K, ME2 DVD required in the drive, ME3 multiplayer now removed).
Installed and eagerly launched into ME1, get control on the Normandy deck only to find the camera spinning anticlockwise. No means to stop it. Sundry Google Fu points to conflict with gamepads but there are no options in game to disable gamepads or other controllers and I don't really want to keep yanking my gamepad and flightstick out the back of the PC every time I play ME.

So reluctantly decided to refund. If anyone has another suggestion I'm all ears, maybe pick the game up again at a later date.

Quick postscript - am I correct in thinking only ME1 suffers from this gamepad/joystick conflict? If so then I might just rebuy and yank out the two peripherals for the duration of the first game.

In the end I rebought it and have temporarily disconnected the gamepad and flight stick.
Not an ideal solution particularly as the old DVD Bioware version I got up and running without any issues, but I really want to see the improvements to ME1 and enjoy ME3 later on without the multiplayer progress wall.

Oh yes, great games. The only section I don't really like is in ME1 when you have to run various side "fetch" missions on the Citadel when you should be getting out there and dealing with the galactic threat. Well I suppose (like the Minutemen missions in FO4) they generate a bit of XP for levelling up but otherwise just tedious.

Sorry to hear that the game was disappointed - if you had bought a hardcopy you could have sent it back via the letter post delivery.
Alright already. A typo in the header which our kind forum software won't allow to be edited.

You know quite nicely that it was (is) virtually impossible to get refunds on games purchased on disc, other than replacement disc(s) if the media was faulty. One advantage of Steam with its two hour refund window, though if you read through the ongoing thread you will note I repurchased the game and it's working fine with the peripherals unhooked.

It's a funny thing as many people rave about how good ME1 is compared to 2 and 3... I'm a little way into ME1 and TBH finding it a little boring and tedious. Seriously thinking about jumping out and straight into ME2.
Or maybe I just got old!

Based on your recent posts I would say it's safe to say it's the latter :p
Think the game heard me too as now it's refusing to start with "this file does not have an app installed..." message when I click the shortcut. Probably because I plugged my gamepad back in for a bit of Snowrunner...
