Mass effect & me2 Piracy??

Its MUCH harder to pirate an MMO - depending how much is held on the server backend... its pretty much dependant on someone either coding an entire server backend from scratch or leaking the official one - which means that its rarely updated and often buggy/broken.

No less buggy/broken than the official servers imo. Besides, its pretty irrelevent. Its obvious that MMOs are hard to pirate because most of everything is held on the official servers and you need to connect to them. They have problems of there own to deal with. You can't simply try and make an offline game and apply MMO logic to it, it simply won't work.

Tbh I only pirated ME2 because it got leaked before the actual release. Bioware deserves the money though so I purchased it after I played it through.

But no, it worked 100% fine.
According to Razor1911, the "anti-piracy feature" in the first release was the result of a corrupted .rar file, not anything by the developers.

Either way, I think it would be a great idea though. Instead of having DRM simply fail to start the game, make it shut the game down after 5 mins of gameplay. That way people get sucked in before they get forced to buy it. ;)

Yeah but you download a Demo with the purpose of testing it, and you download a game with the intent of fully playing it.

With a Demo you're kinda expecting it to end soon. With a full game you're left helpless when it hits you.

Titan Quest was meant to have suffered from its anti piracy method of crashing out, or something. As the pirates complained on the forums that the game was buggy, which then put people off buying it.

The reason Iron Lore gave for using this mechanic was to increase the difficulty to find the code resulting in crash. Instead of having a message pop up, or similar.

When I played Mass Effect originally I had the galaxy map problem but there was a fix for it around at the time. Got it on xbox, though, because it was in a good deal :D
