Asked steam but no reply yet

anyway i am debating getting ME on PC since ME2 will allow you to use previous char. I have the x360 version, but wanted to play sequel on PC (hopefully won't be released +6 months after console) and thought I would get original on PC to set up a char to be used in sequel + check out additional content

Anyway I fear the DRM on the retail copy since i upgrade (HW, OS to win 7 when that is available, etc...) Since the game is available on Steam in EU and NA, I was wondering if I bough a UK retail version if I could add it to my steam account (like I did for WTCC and Lost Planet) and therefore benefit from steam's no EA DRM version?

Anyone tried?

cheers

Mass Effect, along with a plethora of EA games, isn't available to UK Steam customers - so I doubt it.

I got mass effect for the PC from Zavii b4 it shut down £3.50

Bargin imo even with all the DRM crud with it :D

The DRM on ME is truly evil :-/. Retain your proof of purchase and they should activate the software under any circumstance.

k thx will have to give it a miss then. maybe will take the PC version as sequel if none of this DRM rubbish, otherwise will get sequel on 360 version and use my existing char.

Installed ME on my laptop again the other week and couldn't spot a hint of DRM anywhere. It had already been installed on there last year, so maybe the DRM can detect what doesn't count as a new machine, and doesn't use up an activation or something. I could have sworn when I installed it before it did some big DRM update check thing.
