Mass Effect Problem

Hi guys,

I bought Mass Effect yesterday, installed it etc. I stated having a problem with glitching graphics where parts of every landscape flickers into black squarish blocks randomly as I pan around.

I then upgraded to the latest official graphics and audio drivers to see if this would fix the problem, but it didn't.

is there a patch for Mass Effect yet?

My system is an AMD FX57, 2 x 7800GTX SLI, Fatal1ty Gamer sound card, mostly purchased in 2005. Everything clocked at stock, ever since I played Oblivion where I had to bring it to stock to keep it from crashing.

Any ideas how to stop the constant glitching?

I tried it just now, thought it worked at first, but after a little while the glitching comes back. the glitching occurs on the character models as well as the landscapes. Could my gfx cards or CPU be getting too hot or something?

Would I be better upgrading to a single 8800GTX or 9800GTX or something?

Could well be overheating yeah :/

I'd try cleaning out the fans/etc on your graphics cards. If you do have to upgrade, get an AMD 4850 rather than a 8800GTX. Faster and cheaper :) (check your motherboard supports PCIe 1.1 and not just 1.0 though).

It's not a bad card but in terms of bang for buck, the AMD 4850 is the card to go for at the moment.

I'd probably go for that myself but I'm on an 8800GTS640 and currently limited to 1280x1024 so it'd be somewhat overkill.
