Mass Effect Saren/Sovereign Issues

I can't friggin defeat Sovereign as Saren. I can't use a descent assault rifle cause it says 'untrained'. So I use the Tornado IV shotgun. I haven't got any decent upgrades that allow my shots to go through S/S's armour. I constantly use lift/throw and then shoot him to hell but it's just not enough. His bloody shield regenerates faster than I can destroy it so I never get at his hp. Garrus and Alanko are all over the place, so I leave them to do what they do best.
 
Okay guys, changed to a pistol and it is making life a lot easier. I was so close to winning, then before I know it I had my gf at the door, she was supposed to take at least another hour. Damn had to switch the god damn game off, didn't even have time to take the disc out :(. Reason being I was supposed to pick her up, but I said I was sick 'lol'.
 
Odd choice to take those two in my opinion. I'd have Liara and Wrex/Ashley. Mind you, I did do it with Kaiden when my female Shepard copped off with him. She felt compelled to go all the way with him.
 
He has an awesome voice, and looks the dude.

Who cares how useful he is :D
 
What character class are you? Also Tornado 4 shotgun at the end of the game?! Should be on spectre weapons!

Also try using a pause button next time :p
