Mass Effect - Save Game for Mass Effect 2. How?

Hi guys.

Have of course pre-ordered Mass Effect 2 and cannot wait. Completed ME1 and I am aware that you can use your save game to continue into the sequel and the Universe in ME2 will reflect your choices made in the first.

However, does anyone know how you get a final save game where your decisions post final Saren meet up are saved? I have watched the credits at the end and nothing comes up to save my game. When I load my last save game it put be right in the middle of the Saren meet up before he 'blanks' mid meet up (spoiler save ;) )

Can anyone tell me how I get a final game save, or were bioware talking asre.

The game creates one when the final cutscreen rolls. The name looks like this file in the save games folder:

\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Save

Char_01-60-3-2-4-5-10-2009-65-44.MassEffectSave

Level 60, Colonist-3, Ruthless-2, Sentinal-4, saved 5th Oct 2009, 65h 44m played.

The same file you choose when if you select replay existing ID/character on a new game start.
 
It's an invisible save.

The way to tell whether or not you've got one is to choose Start New Career from the main menu then there should be an option labeled Select Existing ID (or something along those lines). Then a list should come up showing you all your characters that have finished the game with i.e the ones that you can carry across to Mass Effect 2.

I didn't want to start a new topic so I'll ask in here.

I'm on the mission with find Liara T'Soni, near the end when all the geth show up and i got mauled straight away, I'm level 8, am I too far into the game and should I go back to level up or is it possible for me to advance past this point?

Nah you don't need to go back and level since the AI gets stronger as you level up anyway. The only benefit to leveling is to unlock better weapons and abilities.

You're problem is that you're running into a Krogan Battlemaster, which at a low level can be quite hard to deal with if you're not prepared correctly, the way to deal with them is to get a biotic to use lift on them which makes them helpless for a few seconds giving you precious time to unload everything you've got into them. Basically just keep him off his feet so he can't use his weapons and/or charge at you to melee you.
 
Alternatively use that ammo (forget the name, might be toxic?) which stops the krogan regenerating! Job done.

I completed Mass Effect last night, fantastic game, however i was surprised it was so short. I finished in 17 hours and that was getting the completionist achievement too and getting my chap to level 39. I'm going to have another playthrough to try and get him to 60 and then i'm all set for ME2 :D

Checked my save last night, and I know I left one or two quests uncompleted, plus I did not get all the metals and stuff. But my guy is level 45.

Anyway, got the save game. I assume the ones that appear for replay are only those that you have completed the game with then?
