I'm a bit late to the party but have just completed the series and loved all three of the games ! I'll be doing another run soon again and before that wanted some mod suggestions.

Played them almost without any mods, had to use a mod for ME1 since I got the black blob glitch due to using a AMD CPU. Used the same mod for ME2, although I could have done without it but liked the fact it made taking screen shoots easier. In ME3 had to use the Interface Scaling Mod and it's Add-On. Well, didn't HAVE to use it, but the vanilla Interface on a 43'' 4K monitor was way to small had to increase it with said mod. Also used a screen shoot mod since wanted one. Now though.. here is where I need some suggestions:

Although this thread from reddit that divinebeetle posted in another thread seems to be quiet comprehensive for all three games but then again, might be some missed, so please fell free to add more suggestions.

I found this reddit thread a useful guide to modding the mass effect games if its helpful to anyone?

It was like playing a remastered version:)

Also, I played as a female Vanguard through all three games, so what class would be most fun out of the others ??

------ Rumour Mill ------

As for the last part, hoping that on Thursday the 18th we find out if there is a remaster/remake of the trilogy in the works or not.

This article posted by Stu999 seems to hint on a new Mass Effect game is in the early developments, so guess we'll see in less then a week, maybe ! :p

Rumor: Mass Effect trilogy remaster will be out before next April

------

Thanks for taking the time to read and post, much appreciated ! :D

Now though I think I am going to download Andromeda and play that one as well and see how that works out !

I’ve just started playing ME1 again. I’m a total mod virgin so had no idea what to do but it was very easy. Downloaded a lot (A Lot Of Textures) from Nexusmods. It has its own little installer, which prompts you to download extra mods, which it then installs for you. It was great. And seeing everyone in the game with spangly new uniforms and stuff was much better.

The same installer also has options for ME2 and 3 so will try those later.

As for characters, I always go adept. Especially in ME1 as it has a unique perk which comes in very handy!

The newest rumour is that the ME remasters aren't even gonna be shown at EA's Play event, so who knows if they're really coming or when.

As for mods, the suggestions on a lot's nexus pages are generally enough. The obvious must haves are textures + video upscales + larger shadow maps, and then if you want to play with a controller then that's something to add as well. For ME1 & ME2 there's not that many mods anyway, it's with ME3 that the flood gates open and there's almost too much to choose from, and also something to keep in mind for ME3 is that the install process will likely not go smoothly for the first try, I know I had to do a lot of re-installs and tinkering until it all went well, but I can't remember which mod was the culprit. I'd also recommend getting reshade for all 3 and tweaking with quint_lightroom. There used to be a nice package called ESS (eyestrain suite) that did all that but the guy took it offline and hasn't put it back up. It also did some other things but those weren't that great.

It adds a bit more colour & contrast to the game without making it obnoxious:

I'm between games atm, I'm thinking about playing 1 and 2 again. I just need to remember my Origin details!

Im hoping for a trilogy remaster. That would be great as whilst I love the first game, it is clunky.

I'm on my second playthrough, on me3 atm.

I love the series but I'm not that mad over a remaster. The games look good with a a lot and a few other mods. If the remasters fix the combat and AI (especially in ME1) then I'd be interested.

Actually, I think ME1 would be the most interesting remaster. Seeing as it has the most exploration options, there's a lot that could be added to flesh out the rather boring planets and identical looking interiors.

I wonder how they would handle the RPG elements in a remaster, seeing as they varied a bit in each game.

The games seemed to become less 'RPG' and more 'Action cover shooter' with each episode. I enjoyed them all immensely but I'm still unsure if they got better or worse with each sequel.

The last half of me3 was basically gears of war! I enjoyed the rpg elements in the 1st mass effect the most, loads of weapons and armour upgrades different vendors etc.

I noticed the comment here about using a mod to get rid of the black blob texture issues in ME1. Which mod is that? My son has started playing it and got to the part where the textures screw up. We did a lot of searching and the only solutions we managed to find were using the viewmode unlit command from the console and just playing through the sections of the game where there are texture issues (I gather it only happens in two sections of the game?). Be good if we could sort it out a better way. It's put him off the game a bit, which is a shame as the first two especially are really classics.

This is the mod over at Nexus but it is outdated, so have to go to the persons website to download a newer one. Linked to Nexus to so you can see more what it can do. Can also be used for ME2, especially if you want to take some screenies.

First one was awesome, second was OK as it progressed the story... From then on it they was trash games.

They would be better off spending money on a new games like the first instead of re-hashing a failed cash cow.

This is really sad. I am really sad. I haven't thought about Mass Effect in years, but even 8 or whatever years on I still feel bitter about Mass Effect 3:(

I'm not really playing anything atm, so i was contemplating playing them again, but I don't think I can do it. I was going to, by carefully selecting what I do in ME3, but then I remembered that emo ninja guy that pops up occasionally and it put me right off!

I don't think I'll, ever get over it...After 2, you wouldn't find anyone as hyped for ME3 than me :(

PS. anyone remember Indoctrination Theory? I was well in to that at the time, though I always knew it was not the case!

I’ll have to check out the ME1 mods discussed as I tried to play it last year and gave up when the graphics made it impossible for me to tell enemy from scenery.

Useful thread, been holding off my second play through on the trilogy because of the supposed remasters. Next April seems so far away though....

Worse, much worse. I loved the first one, awesome story. Went in expecting a better rpg experience on mass effect 2 and was left very disappointed as they stripped out so much. Made it harder to enjoy. I do not remember a single thing about the third game.

I started another playthrough of ME2 the other week but broke off to do something else.

It would be nice to get a remaster, especially taking into account 4K requirements. So many games (Flight Sim, the X space series)suffer from unusuable on screen text and menus as it doesn't scale correctly. I'd like to see ME3 rejigged so it doesn't rely on using the multiplayer section to acquire all your strength for the final missions. I never did venture into that side of it and I expect the servers are long dead now.

Tried playing through mass effect 1 again a while ago, just couldn't get through it, too clunky. Mass effect 2 was much easier, but lack of dlc made it less enjoyable. I hope a remaster includes the DLC. Never tried 3 due to the bad reviews.

I only played through the games once so I might missed something. But what you mean with the highlighted part ?? I never did any multiplayer stuff, so wondering if I missed out on something at the end ?

I'm sure you could do N7 side missions to increase this value as an alternative but it has been such a long time, I can't quite remember. It's a shame you never tried the multiplayer. It was one of the best online experiences I've ever had, kept me hooked to the game for almost two years solid. Never played anything online since (apart from a two week stint with Mass Effect Andromeda which had shockingly bad multiplayer).
