Just recently got this game and I'm loving it! My only problem is I seem to be getting a lot of screen tearing in some places and the textures take a few seconds to load up... is this normal for the game or is something wrong with my setup?

Also, I did just install it straight to my hdd and never tried just running it from the DVD drive... if that makes any difference with this game?

It's a common problem with the Unreal 3 engine, which is pushed fairly hard in Mass Effect. It's nothing to worry about though, I would find that every time I went to a new area the textures would take a few seconds to load up, then be fine.

And you're right, the game is awesome :)

As others have said just how the engine streams textures, don't worry about it, deffo works better from the HDD.

Keep going and you too could have a Shepard as badass as mine :D

(wub my Shepard, the evil cow that she is... :p)

My Shepard is harder and has better armour tbhomgwtflolbbq.

I seriously doubt you have better armour that is the top end Predator L X armour :p

Muchos shieldings.

I did have a set of Colossus X as well, which has more damage protection, but it is so damn ugly that I use the Predator and uber shield buffer instead. (The NPC's next to me have my spare sets of Collosus (of varying levels), hate it, hate it, hate it...)

HeX, your Shepard looks just like the one I made for my 2nd playthrough. Mine's a good two shoes though, my first guy was the bad ass :D

Hehe I did start with some weird girl/boy 80's throwback hybrid that was so ugly babies cried when she walked past...

EDIT - Found a pic :D

UGH!!! Don't know what I was thinking...

But I got sick of her and restarted about half way through with the one in the screenshot further up, who has now completed 3 play throughs :o

(I like the game a bit)

Dying for ME2.

I adored the first and can't wait for this and Dragon Age.

I found this game was fairly slow to start but it gets much better later on.

Got quite a way in and it turned out the preowned copy i got was traded in for a reason :/
Can't take it back either because I lost the receipt Q_Q

Plus remember to keep hold of your savefiles as you can carry your gear and Shepard over into ME2 :D
