Mass Effect

Id play the original first, brilliant game both of them

You wont be dissapointed if you take the time to play both

Best to play ME first as the stories are linked.

As for the bugs, the answer is a resounding YES, ME2 is still incredibly buggy, I played it in the summer running latest patch and for a AAA title it is probably the buggiest I've found in a very long time with the exception of Fallout: New Vegas. I can understand how loophole / quest bugs happen but ME2 has some unforgivable flaws in it's basic game mechanics.

Probably the worst bug is some sort of clipping issue that can see you getting stuck in the scenery forcing you to reload a previous save, absolutley shocking I struggled to play for more than about 20mins without it happening, it would even happen on your ship sometimes! Thankfully you can use an editor to bind a key to noclip mode and use that to escape.

Save your game often in ME1, especially when you get to Noveria. The elevators in the game are buggy - you can get stuck in them.

^^ Hangtime, that's funny i didn't encounter any bugs and i played it quite recently on PC. The only problem i had with it were i found the textures to be shockingly bad, the only game i have ever seen that i thought looked better on 360!

It was just the armour/uniforms on NPC's and some of the environmental textures close up.

Yeah for some bizarre reason ME2 actually looks worse than ME in places, dunno if it is just the art style or what but something somewhere went wrong.

In terms of the clipping bug what I find interesting is some people like me get a lot of it, others never get it. I wonder if it could be down to high framerate (which I've seen cause similar issues in other games before), I played with >100fps.
