Hi all,

I have a spread sheet with email addresses in, loads of them. I am using outlook 2003. I wish to send the same email to all of them but one email address cant be visable to another. Is there any quick and easy way of doing this?

Thanks

The important thing here is the recipients need to be opted-in and ideally double opted-in (confirming subscription by replying to an email).

You don't want to get email servers blacklisted because of reported spam. Not that you're sending spam, but all it takes is for someone* to hit the spam button in their email client.

The guides on campaign monitor offer a pretty good insight into the potential pitfalls.

*... well, a percentage of the recipients.

Hope your ISP is happy with this too. Most shouldn't have a problem but some are hyper-sensitive to it..

you will need to use something like sendblaster or similar then for sure

forget trying to send them via outlook

you will also need to check that your isp will be ok using their outgoing smtp server and/or think about using a different smtp server that is designed for this use (in sendblaster you can pay to use their smtp server)

it all depends on how often you are going to send an email to everyone as to if paying extra for this is worth it for you or not.

How do i find out how to do all these wonderfull things in Sendblaster? I am no expert on emails, infact i use outlook to send about 5 a day. Adding an attachement is as complicated as i get.

Is there a nice read me that i can pring and work through or a tutorial or do i just install the software from the website and its dead easy?

really easy

download the trial software and there are loads of help files on the website

but basically you make a list (all the people you want to email)

then create an email

then send, and it will send it to everyone on the list

you can have different lists if you wish, so you can choose which list to send it to

really isnt very hard if you have a quick play with the software your welcome to add me to msn if you wish.. (email in trust)

Software is working great. I have worked out that its taking approx 15 seconds to send 1 email meaning that to send the 8,500 i want to its going to take forever. I see that i can sign up that SMTP server for £$15, but how do i know this will be quicker?

How do i work out if im maxing out my SMTP or my unload bandwidth. If its the bandwidth then surly paying for a faster private SMTP wont help?

at the botton of your send page there are options for sending

you can change the amount of time between messages and how many messages can send at once and how many connections you can make at once

will speed it up many times.. also, if you buy the pro version i think you can have 20 simutlaneous connections at the same time , all sending more than one a second.

as for smtp, no it wont really speed up your sending, but this depends who you are with and what allowances they have for using their smtp server.

if i were you i would call up your provider and ask them.

also, be aware that the smtp you buy with sendblaster is more expensive with the quantity you are sending... iirc.

edit: here are the costs per month
5000 relays/month Month $15.00
20000 relays/month Month $30.00
50000 relays/month Month $75.00
100000 relays/month Month $150.00

so it would depend how often you are going to send to all 8500 as to the cost
