Suffering from some form of shin splints*. Can’t afford to throw money away on a masseur, so I thought I’d try massaging myself. I’ve found this, the Omni 'Knuckle Baller' (halfway down page) – which seems to be widely offered by web retailers. Anyone any experience with this tool? Any others I should consider?

(*I don’t require advice on podiatrists/orthotics/pronation/gate analysis/shoes/stretching – been there, done/doing that)

Massaging with a large ice cube and lots of calf stretching and strengthening exercises. Exercises/stretching done after warming up - if you can't run to warm up then a session on an exercise bike or similar low impact exercise should do.

Make large ice in a polystyrene cup and peel off the bottom to reveal the ice and massage away.

Works for me - every physio I've seen has used massage for 'shin splints'.
