Massive difference to noice levels with or without windows?

Is there a massive impact on the noise levels of fans, through a case such as fractal R5, its silenced, but does the window increase it?

Depends on the case, the fans and setup but generally, yes.

My case came with a side "window" that was a metal mesh so it was basically open. When I replaced it with a perspex window the noise was reduced a lot! There are before and after pics in my build in the link below. Hope that helps. Go for it.
