Massive performance problems in BF4

Ok so heres my specs:
I7 4770k @ 4.4Ghz
8gb Patriot viper 2133Mhz
2x GTX 680 SLI
1440p monitor running at 96Hz
Windows 8.1

Now this is a pretty high end system but I'm having major problems getting BF4 running smoothly. When i load up a game my fps starts at around 90 but quickly falls to between 30 and 40 with regular dips below 30 when the action really kicks off which just isn't acceptable. I'm running most settings on high in game with a few on medium and no AA so its not like I'm trying to run this on ultra!

I'm using the 331.65 drivers and have gone over my settings to make sure that SLI is on and all that (yes the monitor cable is plugged into my top card as well ;))

Any suggestions? Its very frustrating as i know that i should be seeing much better performance. Vram is peaking at just over 1700 so its not hitting the vram limit (although it does go over 2gb on ultra which is another problem entirely)

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I unparked 2 of my cores last night but that didn't really seem to help at all. Windows parks the cores to save on power I'm assuming? Shouldn't they unpark themselves when you fire up BF4 anyway?

I'll try lowering post processing tonight when I get home, I think its already on medium though but will double check. As for SLI, I did check this late last night and noticed that my top card was hitting about 98% usuage but the bottom card was fluctuating at around the 68% mark. Is this normal or should both cards be under the same load?

I'll leave HT on for now as BF4 makes use of the extra threads so the I7 should be giving a nice performance boost over what i'd be getting with an I5
