Can vouch for the power of a 12700K, easy clock to 5.1/4 with only 1.25v, and powers a 4090 with ease.

Was running a 12700K for a good 2 years before i switched up to a 13700K. Solid cpu, i still have it as it's been used in another machine for testing. Clocks like a champ!

For context the 12700K still more or less matches the 7800X3D for application performance and only around 15% behind it for 1080p gaming on average albeit there are some games the 7800X3D is considerably ahead and/or the 12th gen parts can fall behind a bit for minimum FPS - at nearly half the price for the KF.
