I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum i'm just wondering if anyone has any advice, I am getting about 30 spam emails a day and although most get filtered into a junk mail folder I was wondering if anyone has any longer term solutions. I've tried bouncing them back but this seems to have little effect if not makes the situation worse. I assume this is because they are coming from spoofed email addresses. One of the main problems with the spam is a phising email i get almost daily from someone claming to be natwest. Obviously i'm not stupid enough to give them any details but the fact they are are sending these emails is an offence under the fraud act 2006. Can't these scum be brought to justice. Can't the police investigate the domains the phising forms are hosted on? I guess the problem lies with the fact they could be coming from overseas but surely someone can do something. I feel like something needs to be done against such people.

New e-mails so far today: 633!

Can we swap e-mail addresses? ;)
If you run your own mailserver, install some antispam, if you don't. Thunderbird's mail client junk filters are pretty damn good!

As for people 'looking into the domains/server farms', the majority is run via botnets, from spoofed accounts, and very clever non-centralised control methods (DNS with very low TTL's for one). Not as easy as you would expect to take down.

EDIT: 636 :P

I dont get any spam anymore and i think the reason is, is that I have set up all of my mail accounts to go to one gmail account - and gmail has a superb spam filter ;)

On a closer inspection its closer to 80 spam emails a day but i guess thats not as bad as what some people have to deal with. I guess its just erm... normal these days. Cheers for the advice anyways guys.

I used to get around 200 per hour until i setup the proper antispam on my server, then i was only getting 30 or so an hour from my old ISP account (Tiscali didn't seem to filter until yesterday it seems - i've had 3 spam email in the last 24 hours over all accounts!)

As said, setup antispam in your client, or on your server.

Yeah we get about 25k mails a day at work, of those 95% are spam blocked by MailScanner, Spamassassin and SPF records. Just wish more mail servers would use SPF, no point setting it up if other people dont check for it :)
