Bit disappointing, it's not complicated enough. Now it is pre release so things might change. But I don't see any signs of them changing the format.

Completed it on 3rd attempt, first 2 got crushed after going to war with my neighbour at the very start.

Still 5hrs on it today so basically got my monies worth. Just have to see how it develops.
And might have to give Orion 2 a bash for old time sake.

Maybe multiplayer is more your style, or if you're really looking for a good strategy game, I would suggest Rome Total War modded to Rome Total Realism.

3 was very complicated and it was bloody awful

I suppose the problem is that we all expect more these days - I played MOO2 loads but looking back at it now it wasn't the most complex of games.

I think I shall pass on this one and wait for Stellaris...

As above moo2 is ancient, expect a bitter more in depth.

And what little I remember from moo2 is had more depth than this.

I'm interested. Never played a moo game, but played various other 4x style games on occasion. It sounds fairly similar to endless space... Anyone have any insight on that particular comparison?

Just bought this.

Over the years I have spent thousands of hours playing MOO 1 and 2.

They have bundled MOO 1, 2 and 3 with this new game so I may try and finish a game of MOO 3 which used to run terrible and was riddled with bugs.
