Who's gonna win?

My money's on Dean, cos he doesn't get stressed. I reckon Daksha's the better cook tho.

What's the piont of the competition? I can't figure out whether they're looking for the best chef (i.e. makes best food), a 'personality' like Jamie Oliver, someone to head a catering company (they're doing a lot of large scale challenges).

Daksha doesn't just get stressed, she starts screwing up which is not on when you're running a kitchen. I vote for Dean.

Dean should maybe win and did well in making the other recipes from Peter but looking at the preview in the credits Peter is back in so anything could happen.

The prize is a job in a top restaurant as a chef and is a good opportunity to become a top chef themselves.

i would have to agree and say at this point Dean should win:

Dean
+ does not seem to get upset
+ works well in a team and does as he is told
+ will do the jobs others dont want to do - because they need to get done
+ good kitchen skills
+ good leadership qualities - once he gets going
+ good at taking instructions (doing the deserts in the Q" for example)
+ is not afraid to admit he dont know something and take a back seat if appropriate
+ seems like he is willing to learn
+ young enough that this would be a life changign experience for him
- inexperiance (could be viewed as a +)

Daksha
+ great cook
+ learns quick
- gets stressed
- agresssive
- unwilling to listen
- makes mistakes when under pressure
- not a team player
- this would not make as much a difference to her as to Dean
- selfish in the kitchen - not a team player

Paul
+ good technically
- gets stressed easily
- seems to be unable to handle odd surroundings - has more problems then most with new equipment
- seems unable to handle more tehn a dinner parties worth of people

The old chap shouldn't win, everytime I've seen him he's cooked OK but he's screwed up somehow. Dean has been very good all the way though and even managed to pull of someone elses hand written recipes without complaint from the customers. He deserves to win if you ask me! Daksha is a great cook but she doesn't work in a team at all and gets stressed far too easily for a chef!

I watched it for about 2 seconds yesterday when the Asian woman had got into a stress about something. What got me was the fact she kept putting her hands on her face and in her hair.

Sorry love, you might be a great cook, but I was taught hygeine when I worked in a restaurant. We had an open kitchen and if you scratched your nose the head chef would scream at you "contaminated, wash now!"

I've been watching this with my Dad and it's as bent as ****.

Within five minutes of Dean's first appearance my Dad said, "That's the winner of the series. They bloody love him."

Wouldn't you be as relaxed as him if you'd got Fatty-Veg-Man and Misery-Guts-Aussie stroking your ego 24/7?

Perfect chef. :p

Dean for the win.

I personally don't see how Daksha got through, she was using the same Indian cooking for every challenge thrown at her. Same style every single time - for the entire three courses of the meal she was asked to create.

When is/was the actual final on tv? Have I missed it because... a certain website lists who the winner is!

I watched this last year as well... it was pretty good too, but I've missed more programmes this year round... probably including the final! ;)

And the end was a travesty of judging, were they even watching the same people we watched?

Barely, considering that the loser's dishes were both dangerously undercooked and it had been mentioned that all 3 were so even before yesterday that the decision was going to be made on what happened in that 1 meal.

I would say that the best chef won, dean seemed a little unsure of himself and i dont think that daksha should have started to cook european food, she would have done well if she cooked what she can cook well.

As in beeb2 at 6.30pm?

Wasn't that the Michelin one as I thought at the time, when they said the final was tomorrow, that Saturday was an odd day to show it on?

Have I been ubducted by aliens! :D

Saying it was even before going into the final day is unbelievable and IMO said purely to make it better TV, having watched Peter continually **** up for the past two weeks to the point were he faked illness to avoid a task, therefore leaving the other contestents to cope by themselves I'm amazed at the poor quality of judging.

They seem to contradict themselves on what they want with every other sentence. They say they wanted someone who could cope with cooking all styles of food; yet they let Daksha into the finals when all she did was cook her own Gujarati style for round after round and another contestant a girl who was cooking excellent western food had a go at Thai and did meal praised by the judges they turn round and put her down because you wouldn't know what she'll be doing next!

I for one will not be eating in John Torode restaurant again  ( not that I ever have or could afford to anyway ;) )

I am shocked that Peter won, but I am so glad that he did.

My Dad was happy to eat his words that Dean would romp home with it.
