Hey guys,

Masterkleer 7/16" going onto 1/2" barbs, do i need to clamp it?

I know i have to heat the tubing up in boiling water to soften it to get it onto the barbs, does it need clamping as well?

Cheers

I've got all the barbs in the world in my pc (2 loops, loads of blocks) and I decided to be brave and have a go without barbs.

Its all been fine, the only thing is if you get into a situation where you need to jam your hands in there you can pull them slightly loose.

If you're using something like feser and you're prepared to take the risk then it should be fine.

In fact I have a fight on my hands to get the tubing OFF the barbs when I want to drain it..

And another thing to watch out for is if you fix it up outside the case or in any way need to move anything about the tubing clamps onto the barbs so tight the act of moving a block and unscrew the barb because the screw gives way before the tubing.

Its a risk, but quite a small one.

Nice one matt.

Yeah i will be using feser, also noticed what you said about the tubing sealing well, Previous setup i used to move quite abit, thats how i think i managed to crack on of the tops on my pump lol. So this will be take 2 for me, going to lay it all out and such correctly this time in a lian li 343b

Mastercleer 7/16ths / Boiling water to soften / 1/2" Barbs = Tighter than my wallet :D

Dual loops without clamps here.

lol nice one lads,

will try it out tomorrow as long as my gear arrives. Will post up pics as i go along.

Putting all my gear into a lian li 343b, which should be cool.

using the same and with it been my first water cooling rig i didnt want to risk it but some of the more pro guys doing it with out clamps and what nots i can understand why as it is a very tight fit, but for me i just used cable ties which did the trick

Sounds like a plan to me steveo, i have loads of blue cable ties which will do the job quite well. I had fitted hose clamps before, but they look un-sightly if you know what i mean lol.

Cheers
