Match a GPU

I originally bought by PC for work-related activities. I do a lot of analysis of large files taken from a confocal microscope, and the PC has been amazing for that. However, I want to get back into PC gaming. I have a Dell U2412M but also want to stream to my HDR TV via steamlink.

The specs:
Intel I7-6700K oc to 4GHz
Asus Z170-P
16GB DDR4 RAM
750W modular PSU

Currently I only have (and needed) integrated intel graphics. I accept that GPU prices are insane, and originally I only wanted to spend a max of £250 on new GPU card, but accept I may have to dig a bit deeper into my wallet. The games I'm interested in are Gears of War 4, Elite: Dangerous, Civ VI and possibly Call of Duty games. However, I do have an Xbox One so... VR isn't essential, although I wouldn't mind playing Elite:Dangerous in VR one day!

I'd be grateful for some pointers on graphics cards. I had though a GTX 1060 might be okay? Or should I wait for the newer NVIDIA options?

Thanks so much

Wait if you can, while saving up a bit more if possible (say £400 total). The next GTX XX70 could be as fast as 1080Ti, if the trend continues. If you can't wait, a GTX 1060 6GB would be fine.

Thanks for the reply! Depressingly, it looks like GPUs aren't getting any cheaper anytime soon, and ebay just seems a way of buying burnt out cards!

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £249.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

On sale , prob would have liked to spec 6GB version but if your gaming at 1080p should be okay .
If you can hold one, wait for next gen , place pre-order and sell it ! And buy any Pascal card left on the stand haha
It's been two years since we've had Pascal, next gen should have a nice bump in oeformperfo

Thanks all for your help! Turns out a rather expensive credit card bill (damn legoland!) makes an imminent purchase out of the question. However, I'll use these as a benchmark in future. Really appreciate the help!
