Hello all,

i would like to know why are matched pairs better. Today i installed 8gb of ram 2x4gb to an excisting 3 gb installed. Would it be best to take out the 3gb and leave the matched pairs.

Thanks very much

Having matched pairs of memory will allow them to operate in dual channel. This gives a marginal increase in speed, nice to have, but not a serious issue.

Your new matched pair probably are running in dual channel, with the old 3GB running in single channel. It'll really depend on the motherboard you're using.

If you're doing anything that'll benefit from having more than 8GB of memory then leave them in. Otherwise remove them and see if you can detect any difference.
