Matched Panel Pairs

I have three Dell 20" panels at home, all of which shown a distinctly different colour temperature which is annoying the heck out of me as I cannot get a pair that match. They are

2005FPW
2007WFP A03
2007WFP A04

THe A04 is brand new and I was hoping to pair it with the A03 and sell the 2005, but the colour match is so different that I can't get along with them. Individually they are fine and dandy, no dead pixels on any of them and nice clear text and graphics, but put them together and they don't match :-(

I am surprised the difference between A03 and A04 is so huge (and yes they are both IPS panels, I have checked), yet one requires the backlight on a wildly different setting to the other to match the brightness and even then the colours cannot be matched by hand using the RGB sliders.

If I buy another A04, what are the odds it would be an exact match for the one I bought this week? Has anybody else noticed this difference in what should otherwise be identical monitors with the same panel from the same manufacturer?

i have two 1707FP`s one is a T sub model and the other a C. bought a few months apart (the most recent being 6 months old). default both screens and it was a total different look, one has since died and I`m waiting for Dell to look into my warranty - hopefully I get one that churns out similar to the other (doubtfull as I`ve read that they don`t use the same panel mfr for each screen), so i may end up selling them, or it, and getting a nice 2407WFP seeing as it`s a pretty nice price (though it doesn`t seem to be in "This Week Only" any more :S) compared to Dell`s almost 700 atm :D

It is always a very highly unlikely chance you will get 2 monitors where the colours look the same by default, even if they are the same monitor, same panel from the same batch they will still look slightly different.

I bought 2 Dell 2007WFP at the same time, both with the same manufactures date and yet both connected to DVI and look completly different, I haven't bothered to change the colour sliders on them because after a few weeks I stopped noticing the difference and it just doesn't bother me.

I'd save the money and get some OCD therapy :D Only joking.

I bought 2 2007WFPs both together from OcUK recently, AO4 as far as I know, and the brightness is slightly different, one screen has a slightly darker hue than the other, both are also pixel perfect.

I think you'd be very lucky to be honest.
