Matching speed to overclocked q6600

I'm currently planning a new build using the evga680i A1 board.
The plan is to overclock the cpu fsb whilst maintaining a 1:1 ratio with the Ram.

By overclocking the fsb from 266 to 285 this would result in a speed of 1140MHZ as (285 * 4 = 1140)

My reason for doing this is that Corsair do a PC2 9136 dual channel kit which works out at 1140MHZ hence matching my over clock.:)

My question is, "Do I need to change any other settings or indeed the ratio in order to acheive the matched speeds or will the motherboard see that by overclocking the FSB to 285 the speeds are matched already?
I don't want the mobo to automaticly increase the speed of the ram aswell as this would thow the ratio out. If I do need to set a manual ratio can someone help me work it out as I'd like to try and get it right first time.

Sorry if this is a bit noob but I've never overclocked Ram before.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome :)

Overclocking your FSB to 285mhz will result in the memory running at 570mhz at 1:1, not 1140mhz. You only double the FSB speed to get your memory speed at 1:1.

So at that speed you only need half decent PC2-4200 to run 1:1.

Ok thanks to both of you for that info and cheers for the welcome Cob.:)

I'm a little confused now though as I thought that despite intel kind of boosting up their speeds by calling a 266 bus a 1066 bus that it would still be a good idea to run ddr 8500 which is supposedly 1066 too?

Sorry to be a pain peeps.

The intel chips "quad pump" the FSB value internaly to give it 1064. 266(FSB) x4=1064.
For ram speed you need x2 the FSB which is 266, so you would need DDR 532 (pc4200)
The new chips coming out are 1333, divide it by 4 will give you a FSB of 333. (DDR 667 pc 5300).
If you want overclocking headroom, you will need higher PC ram.
As the chips get higher FSB, we will start to need DDR3.
