mate lied on an application form, what do you think?

Would a closet gay get in trouble if he put heterosexual on his form but later came out? Maybe he is a closet straight. Or maybe he is a closet gay and he told the truth on his form, but has been lying to his fiance all this time.

I think this is quite clever, that part of the form is not supposed to be part of the interview so there is nothing to suggest that he was honest about what he put in the form, but he hasn't told anyone else. That he is a closet homosexual who hasn't comeout yet, therefore why his behaviour is that of a straight man if anyone actually brings him up on it. And there is no one's business to make him come out.

Haha, brilliant! Good on him tbh, if they will hire on the basis on sexual orientation, then why not. Granted it should be based purely on merit, but the ingenuity you could argue warrants him that. He could always have changed his mind and turned straight after getting hired.

Fair play to the bloke.

But if he gets the glittery pink uniform with vibrating truncheon then his gamble backfired ( no innuendo  )

You can laugh at him when he tells you how they sent him to sort out a screaming catfight at the local gaybar

"We have a an accident at the Blue Oyster, repeat Blue Oyster, can you attend"

I don't see how anyone could ever prove him wrong, his sexual preference at the time of making the application is pretty much his own buisness and I don't see how it would ever come up.

Genuinely making decisions based on someone's sexuality is clearly ridiculous.

Think your friend has used the system to his advantage and good luck to him.
About time some of us use these ideas to get on in life.

i love how almost everyone's just taken it on this guys word that he got in based on that
as mentioned they are currently trying to get more pcso, they've got quite a few ad campaigns etc
so i imagine it's more to do with, fits the criteria - gets the job
it is not the same as just applying for the police which does have a long waiting list in some places, but not everywhere
while the police have admitted to positive discrimination, (again in some places, far from all) i'd say with 99% certainty that this isnt one of those cases

If he gets the job he should tell them the truth and when he gets fired take the news story to one of the national tabloids should get a few bob for a police discrimination story

PCSO? - They'll take anyone, gay, straight, black, white, foreign, maybe a bit of a mix :p police on the cheap!

Real Police - Its not an easy job to get into at the moment, especially when they are pushing people towards being PCSOs.
