Mate wants a quad AMD PC

My mate wants an AMD Quad PC. He won't touch Intel so no need to spec them.

He wants a Quad CPU, DDR3 Ram and motherboard to match. Plus a good Nvidia Graphics Card. All going into his new Antec 300. He has a good PSU and Hard Drives and DVDrw.

Can anyone spec me the components he would need to buy? I don't have a clue! Don't worry about budget. He wants 4 gig of DDR3. Thanks

My first spec

Although I would go for i7 if I were him if money is not a problem, aswell as going for a 4890. But a GTX260 will do most things you throw at it. The 955 has an unlocked multiplier so overclocking will be easy no bother, just bump that up.

Forgot a CPU cooler but I'd go for a TRUE

Ryan's spec is pretty good - the graphics card isn't that brilliant, but it depends what he wants to do with it. You don't specify any uses.

Two fans on the TRUE is totally over the top though - Phenom II run VERY cool, even at 3.8-4gHz I doubt it'll push more than 55c in an antec 300 if it's got the front fans in aswell as the standard two. Just get one decent fan :-)

Its only a 19" Standard TFT at the moment.

It always makes me laugh when people refuse to buy from a either Intel/AMD or Nvidia/ATI. I wonder if you mate would have insisted on an AMD CPU 6 months to a year ago on a new build! AMD have only just started to release CPU's in the mid market that are finally worth purchasing in comparison to intels efforts.

Not everyone is into overclocking! AMD make fine CPU's. If you aren't into Overclocking then i am sure they are fine.
