Mates drink spiked

Another possible cause- pub glassware that has been put away/stacked while still warm/damp can make people feel incredibly drunk after just a couple of drinks due to a toxin produced by Cryptobacillus sp. bacteria. These are naturally present in water and the environment in general, and usually cause no problem, but multiply rapidly in damp, upturned glasses. [..]

Hmm...I looked that up because my workplace almost always puts glasses away straight out of the washer, warm and damp.

I found nothing at all on cryptobacillus, but it did lead me to cryptosporidium, a parasite that isn't a bacterium. Infection with that is stated to be either asymptomatic or the cause of diaorrhea for up to a month (or fatal in people without adequate immune systems).

So...are you sure?

A college friend of mine had her drink spiked, at first we thought she was playing it on, then realised she was drinking red bull only. She told us all it was a vodka red bull but had said before going out she wasnt in the mood.

10pm it happened, night in hospital for her, people are twisted.

To be fair on the girl in question, she can drink some lads under the table and is a big time clubber etc.. She was feeling very drained and dizzy half hour or so after having the pint. As of now shes under observation or something(i'm at work and only get snippets from another mate), i don't know if they're doing any blood tests or anything but the hospital does think something is amiss.
I could be getting the wrong end of the stick info wise as its 3rd hand information at best.

I once went on a stag do with my mates, all we remember of the night was each having a Jagaer before we went out. Next morning we all woke up not knowing what the hell happened and we had also lost the Stag! Can't really go through the whole ins and outs but we had a wild night and had some crazy things happen to us trying to find the stag.

Getting drinks spiked is not a good thing and should not be joked about.

True Story...

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the time you watched a film called the hangover?

I get my drink spiked all the time  but it did happen to me before, though it was a mate that done it and thought it would be a laugh.

But I do think a lot of girls that end up just drinking more than what they can handle use they got 'spiked' as an excuse, but I guess the only real way to confirm what they are saying is true would be a visit to the hospital for some tests.

people alwasy say I was spiked when they simply can't handle their booze or drank to much and are looking for some kind of justification.

So unless you can show some kind of blood chemistry results that show a foreign chemical substance present i'd put this down to dodgy food or too much booze

I remember reading a study about how out of all the girls admitted to A&E in a certain time 0% tested positive for anything other than alcohol after it was claims study had their dinks spiked. I think this was in Australia. The Conclusion was that drink spiking was massively massively over inflated because of the media attention to some high profile cases.

I am sure it does happen, but it has jaded me a bit, especially considering how daft people are when it comes to dealing with alcohol.

Once upon a time, the club I worked at closed early as it was a very quiet night. We all went to Walkabouts and the barman spiked all of us because we worked at a "rival" club. Considering I was drinking diet coke, its a pretty stupid thing and obvious thing to do. I didn't know what was happening at the time, but one of the bargirls I worked with went to hospital and they confirmed that the people who went and got tested all got spiked. I didn't bother going in the end as they had enough evidence to prosecute the barman involved, hence the reason we found out it was because we worked at a rival club.

Sometimes, random people will spike drinks when testing out new drugs after they have been "cut" to see the side effects apparently. I don't know how true that is, but it would make sense before peddling it to regular punters.

I guess people are conditioned think that it's acceptable and that they have the right to take things by force and make people do things that they wouldn't otherwise do.

That's pretty rare - you got a link to the story - a barman prosecuted for poisoning a bunch of people at Walkabout? What did they get spiked with - presumably you found out as you'd been spiked too and your friends got tested? would generate some press attention surely...

tis crazy that the barman had no advanced knowledge that your group were going to come in, you only went there because you'd all finished earlier than usual and he just happened to have enough drugs on him to spike the whole group and that would result in some people going to hospital.... obviously he just happens to carry these drugs around (maybe he was going to sell them but then just decided to lose a bunch of money by sticking them all in the drinks of some random strangers....)

Seems a bit odd that a minimum wage/close to minimum wage worker would even care that someone worked at a rival chain - hardly affects him personally in any way...

Sorry but your 'story' sounds fairly unrealistic

LSD can be absorbed through the skin but I dont think just a touch would do it. If you were already drunk and didnt notice for ages you got something on your arm, I guess thats possible

Please carry on . . . retribution?

No idea, daughter said 'He dealt with it' which is good enough for me.

Never heard of predrinking?

How old do you think I am, do you think I've never had a life :)
They all sit down here in the living room so I know if they're drinking or not.
They are all aged between 23 & 26 so they don't need to hide it from me like some 14 year old.
The taxi will usually come around 23:30 and off they go and come in hammered in the early morning.
So yes, 100%, I know for sure that (some) young people don't start drinking until after midnight.
Another reason is that they don't get in from work sometimes until 23:00 so it's a quick shower & **** and off out.
