ok my mates mum was using the pc then turned it off then my mate came in to turn it on and it started constantly beeping from the pc speaker.

he took it to my house since i have spare parts lying around. we basically took near every thing out of the case and got the same beeping so we had a look at his athlon xp barton core and 2 of the egdes on the core were chipped.

we then tryed a spare palmino 1600xp and it stopped beeping so we thoiught great its the cpu thats dead so i sold his mum my old 2800 sempron.

when we went to put the sempron in the beeping came back ok no big deal just need to flash the bios so mainboard wil take the sempron.

so there we go and put in the 1600 just so we can flash bios and no post beep no noise at all the fans are spinning and the motherboard light comes on but nothing.

so we then took every thing out apart from the cpu to make it beep but theres no beeps from the pc speaker.

so were kinda stumped and have a nice big paper weight at the moment any advice would be appreciated.

Not a lot I can suggest really. Could just be a dead bored. I'm assuming that you have cleared the BIOS, and that the graphics card, RAM and PSU are working properly.

It is the CPU that fires up the BIOS on boot so if the CPU was totally screwed the board wouldn't beep at you, it'd just power up and do nothing so the problem lies with another component. I'd be thinking graphics to start with. If its got a graphics card try swapping it for another, if its onboard grahics then the board is prob dead.

Also try checking that the mobo isnt shorting on the case somewhere....
