Hey all,

I know there are many clever people on here that can hopefully point me in the right direction. :)

If i have a table of results like this:

How would i work out the average percentage change in mass for each set?

I know this probably seems like a stupid question but i'm absolutly awful at maths. :o

Thanks.

First off, your numbers are a bit wrong. If before it's 0.46g and after it's 0.5g, the change isn't 0.4g it's 0.04g - be careful of that!

The change for each test is the absolute difference of the before and after divided by the before. So, in repeat 1 test 1 it's 0.5g-0.46g = 0.04g, 0.04g/0.46g = 0.09 = 9%.

Take all the results using the above. Then average (sum them all, divide by the number of parts) repeat 1 to get your first answer. Do the same to get repeat 2.

Thanks for your help but would that calculate just the average for repeat 1? I don't think i explained my self properly in the first post but i'm trying to work out the average in each row like this:

And thanks i will correct the results in the table. :)
