Matlab and Windows 7

I've got some compiled Matlab software which comes as an executable, It works fine in XP but in windows 7 something odd happens.

Basically the program works but some drop down menus/tick boxes/radio buttons aren't visible in windows 7. Even with aero off it's still broken. As far as I can tell this isn't limited to one program either.

I've tried googling but I can't seem to find anyone with a similar problem... can anyone here shed some light on it??

I got matlab as well last week on windows 64bit the R2009a version, its worked well so far

Yeah that's the strange thing, Matlab itself runs fine. But these compiled .exe make use of the Matlab Component Runtime so i guess that might play a factor?
