Matlock raft race

Taking part in the Matlock raft race on boxing day and we want a fast stable raft so we can win. There's 3 of us anyone know what materials we should use and raft designs we could build to ? The only regulation i know of is that your not allowed a motorised engine.

Haha, actually I work just outside of the proper Matlock as a programmer

I do drive past them on my way home mind.
