Matrox to use AMD GPU's

I had a Matrox G400 around 15 years ago, was a nice card at the time...
I don't think is a sad thing, at least they are still here.

I dunno if they were to license the cores from AMD and do their own custom board/software I think a lot of people would buy them, its a very hit and miss niche though but with their professional market mainstay they might be able to make it work.

I thought they went the way of the dodo ages ago.

Makes me think much Would lov to have a third major player in both CPU and gpu tech....

In fact, Matrox may actually be using AMD's FirePro W600 cards, only with custom Matrox-developed software applications.
This makes sense to me, those boards are pretty cheap for AMD to make, Matrox will probably have a deal going with AMD that makes more financial sense than an on going R&D spend.

And i agree with Bru's OP statement, it is a shame. A sad day.

Had a Millenium (and a Millenium II if I recall correctly) as well as a few more that have completely slipped my mind.

Didnt realise they were still around, but will always remember the company with fondness.
