Anyone got genuine experience with Matt Paint? It sounds like a lot more hassle to maintain.

I have a garage but it was built in the 80's and is far too small for a modern car, so I can't garage my car.

Am I right in thinking that unless you are cleaning it a lot, getting bird poo off as soon as you spot it etc then you are just asking for trouble?

It is more hassle because you cannot simply polish out a scratch or any etchings. The best compromise would be standard paint and matt PPF.

I‘ve seen a few matte cars about recently. The matte paint makes them look dirty even if they’ve just been cleaned

It just looks like the laquer hasn't been sanded/polished after painting TBH. You get the same effect by spraying new layer of laquer on the car :p

It's probably all the factory does. But yea it's a pain to clean and if you keep polishing it, it will turn gloss.

I wouldn't have it for exactly this reason. If you leave it exposed outside, it will be attacked by birds. Their poo causes enough problems with my gloss paint and I have to go out and check the car on hot sunny days to still find it has been marked after cleaning. At least gloss can be polished with a little effort.

Leasing 'stock' vehicles and very limited choice of paints.

It's either solid white, metallic black or matte grey.

My last car was metallic white, and my current car is black and always looks filthy.
Better to look filthy than to look like a **** IMO :)

Ive not seen any problems with mine, though to be fair big sections of it have PPF on them, but those that don't come up well, look good and I don't thankfully have scratches that are obvious. Wash with wax free soap and use gentle products and it's just been like any other car really.

Not much harder to look after really. Scratches or chips may be another matter. But as noted, wash with a specific shampoo for matte paint, chem guys do one. And yeah protect with something like gyeon cure matte and aqua cost and you're sorted. I loved my matte 595.
