I've been assigned the task of finding a 17" laptop with a matte screen for someone with visual impairments but can't seem to find which have matte screens! I would prefer it to be a Dell laptop as we mainly deal with Dell here.

I've looked at the Vostros on their site and it lists the screen as WLED Anti-Glare.. Now does that mean that it is matte?

Any other recommendations?

Thanks,
Andy

Thanks, I spoke to Dell and they told me that it was "matty" I don't think they knew what I was on about so just wanted to confirm! :)

To my knowledge anti-glare usually means matte

Definately the case with Apple these days.

When they first brought in the glossy screens it was 'Matte' or 'Glossy' but these days glossy is standard and 'Antiglare' (Apple speak for Matte) is a cost option.

When I bought my MacBook Pro (2.4GHz C2D, 4GB DDR2, 500GB 7200RPM) in 2007 I chose the matte - and I'd do the same again. I cannot stand glossy laptop screens!

Agreed. Glossy laptop screens are so annoying especially if you are by a window or outside, you can see anything! The only exception I have found is the screen on my vaio laptop. The x-black screen is glossy but with minimal reflections so its the best of both world really. I still prefer matte, I have it on my Samsung T260 26 inch PC monitor on my desk.
