Mattresses - I need knowledge

I went to the closest shop to me that stocked Vispring today and tried them, I like the Baronet Superb, which from reading the questions on the John Ryan site should be close the Artisan Naturals. I think it's the one I want to go for, but I wish it was just a little bit cheaper.

Has anyone managed to get any kind of discount from them? I did have a 5% code but it expired, I was hoping for 10%.

I'm currently looking for a new bed and mattress. Their marketing has really caught my attention, but I haven't made a purchase yet. I'm considering the Simba Luxe. Does anyone have any feedback on it?

Funny I should come in here when we had our mattress replaced today by the manufacturer because of a faulty zip.. that's right they replaced the whole mattress because of a faulty zip on the topper. It's an emma mattress and honestly its like laying on a cloud in heaven.

So what's the latest and greatest. I was caught up in the John Ryan over the top love fest some year back. What an error that was. We've still got the damn thing as it cost a damn fortune, but it is far far too soft, developed a hill in the middle, which we then had to uncomfortably sleep on to get rid. The edges went soft pretty quickly, just from perching on the side of the bed. Within a year, the John Ryan mattress was CONSIDERABLY worse than the 14 yr old ViSprung mattress it was bought to replace.

Ours has been better but 4 years later and it's ready to be changed.

We bought a Loaf Top Dog mattress when we moved house. Single best decision we made in the house move - it’s super comfortable and I can’t sleep on any other mattresses now without feeling broken in the morning!

After having my John Ryan for maybe 4yrs, it causing me pain, having stuck an Emma topper on it which helped significantly, now the infamous JR dip is now making me switch. Looking to upsize as well.

This time I'm tempted to try a mega cheapo from Argos! I'm 10 and half stone and tall, so it's amazing how a JR managed to get a dip in it! My prior mattress was much cooler and was a cheapo open coil one, so going to go that route again. My GF has a cheapo thin thing and that seems okay.

Much like most things you buy today mattresses don't seem to be built to last, even the expensive ones.

Also, everyone is different so you can't really go by other people's recommendations.

I moaned about my John Ryan in here about a year ago maybe more and I got a Panda mattress topper and it cured it. Really good topper to be fair.

We love our John Ryan. Don’t ever buy a mattress with a fixed topper as you can’t invert the mattress only rotate it.

Well, after what feels like 100 shops and 1,000,000 mattresses we have finally settled on one to replace our 8 year old Simba mattress that we are both starting to hate.
The quest has felt nearly unachievable with various re visits and re try's on the ones we think we liked, then didn't. That's because we nearly settled on a Hypnos from Furniture Village but at a stupid sale price around £3500, some Pillow Top Bespoke thingy range. But it was like laying on a supported cloud.

The price range bothered me, not so much the misses. So we went for one last attempt to our local furniture shop that's been going since 1901. They had a very nice Hypnos Welbury (pillow top) on sale and with a pay the double price for king size offer on. Not quite as good as the Furniture Village one, but we both felt that it was very close and made the over £2000 price difference not worth it. Hopefully we get at least the next 8 years out of it.

Did look at the John Ryan stuff, but both not keen on buying a mattress without at least having a 20/30 min lay on one.
