In the middle of building the gf a machine in a Bitfenix prodigy m. Got an 8350 for her and I now need to find a motherboard for her. Which in all honesty I should have done more research at first but apparently there is very few of them to go around. Anyone can give me hand? I keep finding boards but then they don't have the right tdp.

theres only a couple of Matx boards, and none of them are really meant for the 8 core fx cpu's

If your not Ocing it the GA-78LMT-USB3 should do the job.It actually has good heatsinks on the VRM's,aswell as having hdmi/vga outputs, not to mention its dirt cheap.

Yeah I'll be running it at stock for her. I've found a few there is an Asus one that seems okay I'm throwing up between the gigabyte and Asus one.

Any idea why they made so few boards?

You want to avoid the Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 like the plague if thats one your you have been looking at,it has naked VRMS,you would definatly run into issues with that board.

It's really that bad? That was the on I was tossing up between, it seems better than the gigabyte one but obviously not

What about the ASRock 970m Pro 3? This seems like it is the best board for my needs right now? Any reason I should steer clear of it?

Apart from the older chipset and lack of sata 3 ports the 78lmtusb3
Is the only overclocking matx am3+ that supports overclocking an fx 8 upto 1.45v with ease.
The gigabyte board has a very capable vrm and 4+1 phase setup
That asus is absolute junk it'll throttle no matter what you do, and stay clear of the asrock.

^This, the asus board is junk. The 78Lmt is an incredible board for the money, built 3 systems with them including one heavily oc'ed one (Fx6300) not a problem.Lack of sata 3 is the biggest drawback, but really you will never notice it in real world application.

My biggest concern with the 78lmt is the fact it's on an older chipset it might not come with the right bios for the 8350.

No ones had an experience with the 970m pro 3 then?

Edit double post.
The gigabyte bios support for the fx8 won't be a problem.
The asrock actually looks pretty good with a more modern chipset.
I haven't used that asrock board to make a comment on the vrm count, but it has a 4+1 phase, vrm heatsink and an 8pin atx power socket. Maybe you could buy it and review it ?
