looking at getting the corsair 350d for first build as i need something that can still sit on my desk easily.

not sure if i should go for an AIO cooler or custom loop, will only be cooling the cpu to start with but will probably expand to the gpu eventually.

if money goes right ill be cooling an i5 2500k.

any case or cooling option welcome thought as im still new to this.

350d, hands down the best case I've bought. Doing much the same thing as it sits on my desk. The only think I'm thinking of doing is getting a second windowed side panel for behind the motherboard tray as I'm currently sleeving all my cables with para-cord.

Cooling wise if you are good to go with water cooling loops then go for it, plenty of room in there even with it being a MATX case dual 140 in the roof and a dual 120 (maybe 140) in the front.

If not then an all-in-one liquid cooler like the H100i would be a great choice as it comes the with added piece of mind if the sleals brakes due to manufacturing errors the warranty sates that corsair will replace all the broken components in your rig.

if I had a µATX motherboard, I would get that case for sure! love the clean sleek looks of the obsidian, but the 650 is a bit pricey for me (and not even as good water support as the 350)!

as for the watercooling, if you're going to spend the better part of £100, I would go custom, a simple 240 rad loop can be had for around the same if you're willing to shop around/ go second hand on a few bits, and would allow you to easily upgrade with a second rad and GPU block, rather than having to ditch the h100 and buy a full loop again! of course this depends how willing you are to undertake maintenance etc, but given that you suggested it in your first post, I assume you know what's involved :)

(if you know you want to add the 2nd rad and GPU later, I think it would make sense to spend a little more on the pump now though, rather than have to upgrade that at the same time)

I'm just about to embark on the jump from an h50 to full water next week, mainly for looks and quiet! the h50 keeps my 2500k at around 60 for 4GHz, 1.3v (before anyone mentions it, I know I could probably get faster or lower voltage, and I will spend some more time on it when my loop is in :p )

thats why i like the 350d its just nice a tidy on the outside which is what im after.

i looked at the h100i and i do like the idea of just connect and go but i like the idea of making a custom loop and having to actually think and plan out how its going to fit inside, ive looked at parts just skimming and checking prices as well as kits so i know ill be looking at 100-200 on the water cooling if i go custom.

as for the maintenance that doesnt bother me i like to make sure my case and fans are clean, i like things to be tidy if your going to spend the money we do on systems whats the point if your not looking after it lol.

not sure on what would be the best option for first time water cooling looking and buying my own parts or just getting a kit easier with everything included, what would you guys suggest?
