Hi guys,

Anyone have any recomnedations for an matx case thats good for watercooling ideally small as possible, im looking at the Anted Mini P180 at the moment with maybe a PA160 at the top. Its not really that small though.

cheers

Mini180 will be hard... Its panels are plastic with 2 layers of metal sheeting glued on.

I've seen a couple of SG03's watercooled with a 120.2 rad in the front... that'd be my option if you fancy a little modding.

I did a SG03 watercooled. Pics here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17876783&highlight=SG03

Although after a while my matx motherboard broke. I didnt bother to replace it as i found the watercooling in the SG03 may look good but its such a hassle. For starters you need a thin 120.2 rad, and even then my 8800gt just fitted in and the power adaptor was pushed up hard against the rad. This made it rearly difficult to get the card in and out. Also the tubes covered most things, to get to the RAM I had to take out the PSU due to its positioning in the case and then try to access the RAM through tubing. Then putting the PSU back in was equally as difficult.

To be honest i rearly cannot recommend it.

Had an SG03 , didnt like it, a mini p180 will be easy as pie to watercooler with a rad attached to the 200mm fan at the top just wondered if there was any others.

How about one of the new Hiper cases? The anubis.. or erm... forgot the other ones name. They seem like good smaller case options and iirc have holes for watercooling?

Most matx cases will require extensive modding to fit w/c in them. Mainly due to the manufacturer attempting to make a small case.

I'd personally aim for a very small atx case, and use the extra space around the PCI slot area for your rad

honestly I wouldn't bother.. ages ago I did an aspire case and it was a bloody nightmare, given the factthat MATX cases are generally wider that standard ATX cases, if you're looking to put it on a desk you'd be better off doing something like a Lian Li PC7.

Way too many compromises with a MATX water build, I've seem plenty of people do it, say yep, I've done it, then sell it all lol.

Temps/silence are usually rubbish too.

ok thanks for the info guys pretty sure im gonna go with a lian li PC-A05/6 cause its the same size as the anted virtually but takes an matx board and can take a tripple + single rad.

There have been some very successful V350 water cooling mods, looking at mine theres plenty of room if you know how to manage space :)

Yeah, as said, the V350 seems to be the microATX case of choice if watercooling as there's already a good spot for the rad internally (where the 120mm fans go).

I've also seen it done in the Sugo SG03 - Jokester has a watercooled system in one - and from what he tells me, it works well but was a nightmare to build and change bits in.

Plus, with the V350, using a Scythe Mini-Ninja cooler gives such excellent performance that watercooling isn't really worth the hassle.

Pop over to the SFF forum and have a look through some of the build threads. :)

Ill be building my V350 system on Saturday, and although it isnt going to be water cooled I'll do a mini-log and get some good pics of the internals for you

Thanks m8, had a V350 already :p , still love te V300 tho the 350 is to plane imo.

thick rads? i think it only accepts black ice rads which are pretty thin

No.
You can fit 120.3 PA rad or Feser on bottom of the case or 320 swiftech on topa dn 220 on bottom. There are a lot of mods there and I'm going to do this as well. I'm actually gonna swap mobo tray on other side, move PSU up and install 360 Feser on the bottom to cool i& and 2xGTX280 in SLI...

Piece a cake man..:)

Makes sense to move the psu up, i wouldnt be using the hdd bays if i got one, im still undecided as it looks boring.
