Hey all.

Im looking at starting a new project where i want to build a mATX gaming system. Im currently trying to find a mobo which i can fit waterblocks too. Are there any boards for the current cpu's (pref Intel) that have blocks made?

Cheers

I think he means that what boards that have intel sockets are having motherboard blocks manufactured so you're right Tonester :)

The Asus Gene motherboards have all had blocks made for them so far so the newest 1150 will definatly have some made.

I have a z77 gene and it has blocks available but I dont use them.

If you are after cpu blocks then you have plenty of choice.

Yeah its for the motherboards. i was thinking of doing a full refresh, but doesnt seem like theres a lot of point upgrading from my i5 sandybridge..

You can do matx and watercool it easily if you have the time patience and skills mate.

Jay85 has an absolutely wicked build but that Im guessing would have taken some time to achieve the desired look.

Ive built 2 matx rigs now under water and both were challenging.

My first in a lian li v351b was a pita. I had to severly mod the case to get it to work to a half decent standard.

Then I went for the Corsair 350d case and imo its been a pleasure to work with.

If you do it plan, plan and plan again as something always throughs a spanner in the works;)

It took a good few weeks to get the measurements right, wait for parts to come into stock as well as ordering parts from abroad. Then build time and teething issues. Its good fun, i enjoy every moment of the builds. Just dont panic when you spring a leak lol

And as mentioned, the gene boards have blocks built for them but the angles are stupidly tight. You'll need to measure the height of the fittings as the motherboard blocks wont be flush with the cpu block if you plan on routing it that way. Might need spacers to compensate

Haha.
I completely forgot I was gonna send you some pics mate.
It's stripped down now unfortunately as I went and bought my 350d.

I've still kept the Lian li though as when I can afford a good dremel tool I'm going to do some more mods to the case so it can take 2 x 240 rads then I'm going to make meself a little gaming box to take round my mates.

The one thing with it mind was when it was all up and running it was a heavy little thing.

I don't think I have any pics of it anywhere but if I can dig some out I will gladly post, just don't expect a work of art haha

Yeah, that does sound pretty epic. In the end i just updated my current loop, i think next time though i'll go mATX :)

My effort with the 350D

the case is literally built for water tbh.

Air cooling is not its strong point

Mr Something Else - Do you mind me asking roughly how heavy that build is? There are plans for me to move to another country soon and looking to do an mATX/ITX build and take it with me. Just don't want something that weighs 20KG!

modern board really don't run that hot.
Mobo blocks are more about bling that need imho

Here my reduced size Matx effort.
Still room for a single card (and block) to be added if needed.
