Right now I wouldn't order from DJI direct. I'd get one from a reseller, Amazon , Wex, Heliguy etc. But who knows when they get any stock.

You'll be able to pick one off the shelf in an Apple store, but you're looking at late Jan early Feb now.
 
I must admit I'm feeling a little nervous about having purchased direct from DJI as opposed to a more reputable retailer. I'm hoping this second batch of production has a few kinks ironed out.
 
Is it returns you're worried about? I suppose buying direct it comes from China so you have few rights, but if you don't get on with it then you'll easily be able to sell it for a £300-400 profit if it arrives soon enough.

I only have one issue with my mine, and that is follow me does not work. There are reports there are problems with android and phones not on the compatibly list. Makes sense but is annoying. I'm using a Sony Z5C, which is too fat to fit in the controller. The Z3 is listed as compatible but not the Z5 yet.

Other than that I've not found any gimbal or disconnection issues or anything else.

Had it out in 20mph wind a couple of days ago trying to get some 1080p50 footage for @ avatar12m. The Mavic was more stable than me (it was bloody cold), but 1080p50 footage is not nice at all. Looks very grainy at least at my settings. Will get some files for peeps to download.
 
Yeah, just the legendary lack of DJI service is making me worry a bit. But the purchase was via a credit card so hopefully shouldn't be too much of an issue. At the moment my biggest problem is still waiting for the ******* thing to turn up! On DJi's timing it should be here before Christmas but on the DJI forum order delivery spreadsheet it is looking like January!
 
Really want one of these but unfortunately cant justify the price £1,000 it just to much for me although I would love a drone to take for my second trip to Vietnam next year.

When did you place your order? I'm expecting mine around mid December too, going by current shipping notifications on the DJI forums.
 
That's a decent long tracking demo there. Max speed is around 24mph since it can't fly faster than that and still use it's forward sensors.

Follow me does not work on most android phones. Seems to be a bug.
 
Perhaps. It's only an issue with phones that aren't on the compatibility list, so I guess it pays to check first. For example I have a Sony Xperia z5c. It's not listed as being supported, but my girlfriends Z3 is. I'll probably just look for an iPhone 6 or something in the MM (not just for this).
 
Well I've had my Mavic Pro two days and it looks like I'll be contacting support to send it back. Seem to have a dead/stuck pixel on the CMOS sensor, which moves between photo/video modes.

I've tried different settings ISO/Shutter outdoors in the light to see if it 'wakes' it up, bit like the software trick on an old LCD monitor stuck pixel.
Even shined and LED torch into it, yep I'll try anything!

Only thing I haven't done is re-flash the firmware, can't see that making a difference?

I've sent off some raw files to DJI representative so they can see if there's anything that can be done, but through my basic research it looks like a hardware issue and will have to be returned under warranty...ffs :mad:

And I've not flown it yet!
 
That's a real pain, after so long waiting too. I've see a few reports of issues like this on the forums - quality control doesn't seem to be DJI's strong point. At least they do prioritise returns / repairs so hopefully you won't be without it for more than a couple of weeks.
 
No I guess the amount of them going through their factory, trying meet the global demand, a lot more faulty devices are going to end up being sent out. I've contacted DJI support and had a reply already, according to their T&Cs within 15 days (from delivery date) I can have it exchanged, or within 7 days a full refund.

I just want it working right so I can shoot stuff like this...
