Hi guys what is the highest speed the modem will connect at on this product, is it actually 20000kbits or is it something different like on standard "upto 8mbit" ADSL?

It's 'up to' 20mb?

If you're next door to the exchange you'll see 20mb, if you're far away it'll be less.

Yeah but on "upto 8 mbit" the maximum the router could connect was 7mbit so just wondered if that was the same for the "upto 20mbit" connection.

If you where likely to get the maximum, the router would sync at 19,999. And realisticly should see a speed of high 18's or low 19's with that. You will never fully get the speed that router syncs at, but not far off.

For example my current connection syncs at 5mb, but my real world speed is 4.5, so you will always lose something.

Maximum sync speed on "up to 8Mb" is 8128k - not technically 8Mb but close enough.

Why yes you are right I was getting mixed up between sync speed and download speed. My router is syncing at 19439kbps with a snr of 6db. Would it be best to leave any tinkering to get that bit of sync speed until after the 10 day settling period?

I would wait, it will go up and down a bit. But it should end up about that speed. Even so thats still damn good! BT have recently dropped there average to 16mb. So you are doing incredibly well!
