I am waiting for a call back about Max driver, as it will knock 25% off my £900 insurance (20 3yr ncb focus 1.6)
Is there any other advanced courses? this one is £200 for a one day course followed by a test, £30 for each re-take if you fail.
Anyone have any advanced driving course experience?

Max Driver is basically the IAM Skills for Life package re-badged and more expensive - there are two: the standard (£99) is a standard IAM course lasting 8-12 weeks with the Advanced Driving Test at the end. The Fast-track is £199 and is a one or two day job with the same test at the end.
The skills for life package from the IAM is £75 if you are under 25. The difference in price between the Max Driver standard package and the IAM package is that if you pass the Max Driver one Adrian Flux will give you 25% off your insurance (I'm pretty sure that they are the only insurance company that are tied into this deal).
I'd suggest you talk to Adrian Flux and find out how much discount they would give you if you passed the IAM course - if it's 25% you might as well save the £24 and go straing to the IAM, although they do not offer the fast-track option.
Is it worth you doing it? Yes, absolutely.

Adrian Flux couldn't give a damn about IAM.

They refused to give me any sort of discount whatsoever for doing the IAM test, and passing, at my age, but were prepared to slash my premium by 25% if I was a max power reading moron who had done the WELL WICKED INNIT LOL MAX DRIVER BBQ thing.

Great.

Thought it was just me they sucked for. Last quote from them (supposedly a performance car specialist) was £350 more expensive than most of the "high street" insurance companies.

hmmm. not actually had a quote off anyone else yet. problem is I have alloys, suspension and an exhaust. (dont worry not a chav mobile) So the high street insurers wont like me very much I'm guessing. Or can anyone else reccomend annother mod frienly insurer Do normal insurers like max driver/IAM or anything else? Who do all you other guys with modded cars use.

LOL Fox.

http://www.ffoc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=89557&highlight=iam that has some information on IAM insurance reductions on a ford focus. Seems the IAM will pay for itself in the saving but not too much more. But that means you get free advanced driving experience, which sounds pretty good to me :)

so looking at the quotes I'm better off doing max driver? but that depends if it is only adrien flux that do it. hmmmm. Need a cheap insurance company that are asthetic mod friendly, norwich union want nearly £80 per mod and then they arnt insured, just declared. Its not like my car really goes any faster that a standerd one! it just grips 2wice as hard and is far leass likely to crash. (and looks better of course). Obviously there is probably the magic 1-5 horse power extra from the exhaust and filter that those max power boys would have you beleave you can actually notice! :p throttle response is better tho! Think I'll just do it because I want to learn more about driving well. weel see.
