Max Payne "The Film"

I know, films based on games suck.

I already knew about the independant film being made which looks promising called Max Payne: Payne and Redemption.

However I wasn't aware that 20th Century Fox held the movie rights to the game, and intend (so the rumour goes) to release it in 2007 - Clicky, but need to be subbed to IMDBPro

Anyone know anything about this?

wasn't max payne just a game based on EVERY film noir detective movie?

It potentially could be great, but as with most movies of games, it could be totally pants.

I would rather we had Max Payne 3, however that doesn't seem to be likely these days, unless we're getting a proper next-gen one sometime soon.
