JBod is right... on a rewatch, it actually gets better since the inital utter, crushing disappointment has passed. Still, it isn't a patch on what it should have been.
They captured the feel of max payne well... but the writing was not great and mark wahlberg self confessed he had no interest in the character or doing any research into max payne and so plays it a bit wrong.
Theres a couple of set piece scenes that are really good and if the rest of the movie had been as well done it would have been epic - unfortunatly it isn't.
I do kinda hope they revisit it one day with a better writer and someone a little more passionate about playing the character of max payne - everything else would have pretty much fallen into place.
