Max ram

Ah thanks, I didnt know the different versions of 64 bit os allowed more memory. Does it matter what MB and cpu you have or can you just use those amounts of ram?

All of the Sandybridge and Ivybridge processors onboard memory controllers can only address 32Gb of ram, Sandybridge-E 64GB ram, previous gen i3, i5, i7 16Gb etc

so it works out like this.

socket 1156 max 16GB
socket 1366 max 24GB
socket 1155 max 32GB
socket 2011 max 64GB

Windows 7 Ultimate 192 GB
Windows 7 Enterprise 192 GB
Windows 7 Professional 192 GB
Windows 7 Home Premium 16 GB
Windows 7 Home Basic 8 GB
Windows 7 Starter 2 GB

So there is a reason why 32gb is the max sold in kits, not the OS limitations, as I thought, but hardware limitations.
