With Battlefield 3 coming out soon and my pc haing been easily OC'd and stable at 3GHz for the past 2 years i felt it time to OC it a bit more.

Currently I'm stable at 3.42GHz with idle temps of 36-40C depending on amibent temp and Vcore at 1.325. In P95 My core temps maximum is 66/66/63/62C on small FTT's and in IBT 77/77/73/73.

So I was wondering what the maximum I should go to temp wise to get the best OC without risking significantly shortening the CPU lifespan?

Also I'm not entirely sure how I should setup my RAM (timings, dram volts, maximum freq for overclock etc) I'm currently using 2*2gb of corsair xms2 and have a Asus P5Q pro mobo.

Thanks for all the replies. I tried getting upto 3.5GHz but in the end the voltage increase was a bit too much and I still couldn't get it running stable maxing at 85C in IBT, so I reverted to 3.42GHz which I'm happy with.

Yesterday temps were 82c in IBT with 1.3325 Vcore which is definately stable now and it was 25C outside, maybe 28C+ in my room so it won't reach those temps again until next summer.

Funny this is stock voltage was 1.2350 iirc and I could get upto 3.2ghz on just 1.250, but the increase from 3.2 to 3.4 was huge in comparison and I'd probably need to go to 1.4ish for 3.6ghz which unfortunately my freezer 7 pro just can't handle and I don't consier it worth speding £60 on a Silver Arrow for 200mhz.

@TheCrow do you have LLC enabled as what you seem to describe is Vdroop which LLC counteracts.
